Campaign "Weapon of the Victory" (T-34/85)

Post by lockie on Thu Mar 09, 2017 1:26 am

From the very beginning there was an original Campaign devoted to the first tank which was implemented in the game.

It is T-34/85. At this moment we're planning to equip T-34/85 with a cockpit and make a couple new original missions. I think 10 missions would be quite enough to complete the whole Campaign! Cool
So, we need scenarios for the two missions. I'd prefer to see the story based on the original action. T-34/85 went into RKKA service at spring 1944. Just wonder are there any confrontations T-34/85 vs Pz.VI B?

I'd like to announce that work on the mission N10 has been started! viking
The draft mission name is Race to Berlin!. The main hero is T-34/85 with ekrans. User has under his command three tanks T-34/85(ekrans) and infantry platoon. There is a shock tank group. Tha task is:
    - breakthrough the enemy defence near the lake
    - capture the suburbs of the town Weissensee
    - be ready to repel the enemy counter-attack

The Race to Berlin was a competition between two Soviet marshals, Georgy Zhukov and Ivan Konev, to be the first to enter Berlin during the final months of World War II.
Zhukov later acknowledged their concern that “the British command was still nursing the dream of capturing Berlin before the Red Army”. Stalin wanted Berlin, “the lair of the Nazi beast”, both for reasons of prestige and because he hoped to capture German uranium stocks and the scientists working on an atomic bomb.

Of course, nor Zhukov neither Konev didn't care abt. losses. There was order to pick up the best tanker's crews, organized a shock armour brigade and rush towards Berlin to be the first who report to Stalin: I am THE FIRST who reached Berlin!
For the Soviet tankers it was the way to the one end.
The most important and heavily protected was Weissensee suburbs, where the furious tank battles had place.
The evening the Soviet troops were briefed on the severe kind of fighting they could expect to encounter in the more densely built-up areas of Berlin, and preparations were made to adapt to this kind of warfare. For General Berzarin of the 5th Shock Army the personal good news was his promotion to Colonel-General.
Race for the Reichstag: The 1945 Battle for Berlin by Tony Le Tissier

Ilya Ehrenburg (Soviet journalist) had written in his manifesto to the Red Army: 'Kill! Kill! None of the Germans are innocent, neither the living nor those not yet born! Follow the advice of Comrade Stalin and wipe out the Nazi Beast in his lair for ever! Break the proud racial pride of the German women brutally! Take them in just revenge!

Yes! Depends on the balance user may meet 3x Pz.IV/H and 2x Panther ausf.G
It's a moderate difficult, coz more enemy tanks looks unrealistic (in April 45 German didn't has many tanks in operational conditions, because of the fuel lack). Though, it is a game and user always has ability to change the number of the units in ME.

Meanwhile let's see the history note and briefing of the mission!
    text:

    History note:
On 24th March 1945, 21st Army Group under Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery acrossed the Rhine launched Operation Plunder, as a part of a coordinated set of Rhine crossings.
With American bridgeheads across the Rhine, Stalin now feared they might get to Berlin first. Churchill’s desire to reach Berlin and "shake hands with the Soviets as far to the east as possible," was ignored. Stalin ordered Zhukov to work through the night preparing plans for the "Berlin Operation". In spite, Eisenhower considered Berlin was "no longer a particularly important objective", Stalin still keep on talking the lie to his Americans allies that he is not obsessed with taking Berlin first.
At the morning 1st April 1945, Stalin summoned Marshals Zhukov and Konev. "Well, then," he said, eyeing the two men. "Who is going to take Berlin: are we or are the Allies?" His order was to surround the city first before attacking inwards to prevent any chance of the Americans coming in from the west. The offensive with 2.5 million men was to take place "no later than 16 April".
Later that day, Stalin sent his reply to Eisenhower. He assured his trusting ally that "Berlin has lost its former strategic importance" and that the Soviet command would send only "second-rate forces against it". The bulk of the Red Army would join up with Eisenhower’s armies further to the south. They would not start their advance until the second half of May. "However, this plan may undergo certain alterations, depending on circumstances." It was the greatest April Fool in modern history.

    Briefing:

Thanks to Geoweb35 we've a video of the mission N10!
It is hard mission starting at the "balance 5". The biggest problem is a German pillbox. It's almost impossible to damage it with a gun 85mm, only in case if u are lucky enough to destroy it through the window/slit cyclops
Or if u enable the feature "Increase power shell". U've to be a very carefully and precise to get a victory over attacking Panthers!
