    Sorry for any errors with my post, but our lonely left to herself dog, Lucey decided she was bored [I word that I firmly believe is made up.] but none the less she ate, chewup or totally destroyed my computer eye glasses. So I'm sort of typing in the dark with my one finger typing, as at this time I'm holding Lucey in my other arm, since she is normally by my side 24/7. Mad

    My wife and I saw the Marshall Tucker Band last weekend at a small venue on the shore of Webster Lake called Indian Ranch, wish I had my camera, but over all it was a great day and they were playing some excellent music.

    Now any knowledgeable dictator would or should know we already have an in state dictator, our beloved Governor.

    And everyone living in the state knows that once the evil invading armies final do make it across the Sagamore or Bourne Bridges in heavy traffic, that they'll be hitting all of the road construction, accident and normally backed up traffic for miles on end just trying to get into Boston. And once in Boston, good luck finding those few empty parking spaces, which are heavily guarded by a force of overly trained meter maids just itching to ticket all of them and then have all of those invading tanks and other vehicles towed and impounded.  affraid

    Also just a thought to think about for all of those evil invading armies, the common Massachusetts house hold more or less is carrying more and heavier firepower than what the evil armies are carrying! What a Face

    PS... and just wait till those evil invading armies find out what they are going to be paying for toll charges to get on the Mass Pike! LoL  Rolling Eyes

    All right All right Shocked , you convinced me we shall declare Massachusetts a neutral country like Sweden and Switzerland( another heavily armed country).Every Swiss soldier is required to keep his SG (Sturmgewehr)53 at home along with his Sig 9mm side arm....

    Granted that I was superficial with our dear Governor being a dictator, as he was elected into his post by the people. Massachusetts is not a neutral state.... you see that officially it is the "Commonwealth of Massachusetts" and along with our "Second Amendment" to the United States Constitution, which protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms in the USA.     Only a dictator or one person/political controlled country would want a disarmed civilian population or country.

    Although being European by birth and being the citizen of a country which very much restricts and controls the ownership of weapons I personally have no issue with the right to bear arms.However I do take issue with people being given the right to bear arms in public such as the right to carry concealed weapons given to residents of some US States( Texas being one I think).I also do not think very wise to allow people to freely purchase freely assault rifles, machine guns and rpgs... These weapons - with a high rate of fire or killing power - falling in the wrong hands can lead to a massive loss of innocent lives.While weapons are not evil being just machines or tools people who own them are not always mentally stable, mature or smart enough to use them only for self defence but will rather use them to solve quarrels, or in incidents of road rage or will go on a killing spree for any kind of grudge( real or imaginary) they may have against their employer, the government , their ex wife, their neighbour or whatever. I gave the example of Switzerland which doe snot have a standing amry only a permanent reserve with men required to show up for military training very year up until the age of 55. These men are allowed to keep their assault rifles at home. But before they are so authorised they are required to undergo rigorous training in the handling and maintenance of their weapon and also rigorous psychological testing.Any hint of over-agressiveness or abnormal behaviour and your are barred from carrying or keeping a weapon. As a result, Switzerland despite having 700 000 well armed citizens has one of the lowest rates of violent crimes and homicides in the Western World. 500 years before British American settlers went on to defeat the British Army, armed Swiss peasants defeated the Habsburg heavy Austrian cavalry in a series of battle which allowed 5 cantons - including Schwyz which gave the country its name - to declare their independance and create a small democracy which exists until today.

    But the right to bear arms is can very much become a double-edge sword if not properly monitored.

    This is control by the local police chief or Massachusetts State Police for jurisdictions in my state. The US military is an all volunteer force for all branches of service, as the draft went out in the 70's.

    He-he, actually it's interesting idea! All pictures could be implemented in the polygon, including handcart(I've similar model). Well, may be we need a couple additional trees: larch, linden and new building.

    Now I completely see that we are being hemed in on a two front war with no standing allies in sight. With the major malicious intention of the two front thrust of the "purely evil" enemy forces are to create mass mayhem and total destruction of our rear supply and support areas with the capture of the beer tent and most importantly the steamed lobster & clam bake pits.

    But our war chant will be heard around the world and we will hold out until the last man and of course the very last of the melted butter and the iced cases of Sam Adams lager are totally consumed and safely out of the "evil" enemies hands. cheers

    Now that would be very interesting, but have to say, the area around Massachusetts would not make for good tank grounds even in the best of weather, as it is mostly a large swamp or as they call it now, wetlands. But I will trying to posted some more photos of the area, although a little short for time today, but will see what I can do tomorrow.

    Fully agree with you that "(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance" is a great classic flick, especially Lee Marvin's role as Liberty Valance.

    And yes, you can not leave out Clint Eastwood with the list of "tough as nails" characters he has performed over the years in films.

    The big problem with gun control laws is that they really only affect the law abiding and sane citizen.  Criminals and the crazy can always get a weapon and they will ignore any laws concerning their use and carriage.  There has been no "carnage in the streets" as many gun control advocates warned when concealed carry permits are given.  In fact, in many cases crime has gone down.  Whether that is serendipitous or causal, no one knows.

    I do believe that not enough gun owners act reponsibly.  Many crimes are committed with guns stolen from homes where they were not stored securely.  Also too many people to not take proper care of their fire arms when children are involved.  No matter how many times they are warned about the danger of guns a child or one of their friends will handle a found gun, often with tragic consequences.

    I don't believe that the right to carry a concealed weapon should be infringed upon but I do think it might be beneficial to include a training/proficiency requirement.

    With reference to Switzerland and keeping the army weapon at home; In order to purchase a weapon in the US from a fire arms dealer a person must pass a Federal background check first.  This is not true of purchasing from a private seller or at a gun show.

    Tanker the problem I see with concealed weapons is that a trigger-happy moron,frustrated with his life or with a short fuse can pull a gun and shoot anybody over any kind of incident in a public place over parking, queueing in a store.

    This reminds me veyr much of an incident I had while in the Philippines 13 years ago.I was driving a vehicle and my fiancée was with me. I was stopped at a light and accidentally I took my foot off the brake pedal while scratching my itrchy knee.As a rsult my car jolted forward and bumped into the car stopped in front.There was no damage not even a scratch on either vehicle but the irate driver in the car I hit pulled a gun on me( a 9 mm I think it was)and started creaming in Tagalog which I don't speak nor understand.He was wearing army fatigues so I suspect he was form the local military. I think he weas trying to extort money form me. I toook a gamble suicne there were thousand so f potentila witnesses I drove off .He ran after me tapping my car window with his gun but my gambble paid off I was able to drive way without him shooting at me. My fiancée was livid and gave me a lecture although frankly I did not do anything worng.Afterward once clamer she actually said what I did was courageous. I admit I was taking a big but calculated risk. Had he shot at me I would likely have been seriously iunjured. I compalied to the local authorities but since I didn't have time to get his car licence plate number it didn't go anywhere. So concealed weapons can be a public danger in the wrong hands.

    I think what can help drive crime down is sound policing ( not of the type we saw in Ferguson!), citizens reporting crime and being vigilent rather than having everybody armed to the teeth. We 've seen to many instances of people being shot by irresponsible home owners when seeking assistance at night.Just my own opinion.

    Frinik often the police's function is to outline the victim's body with chalk and take pictures.

    Sound policing and citizen awareness will not necessarily protect you when you face an imminent threat of a violent assault. The incident that you mention about the motorist seeking help at night did not involve concealed weapons.

    The state that I live in has a "shall issue" concealed weapon permit system. That is, unless there is a reason for the permit not to be issued (criminal record, restraining order, etc) then the permit must be issued. There has not be any issues with wild west shoot outs in the streets as many of the opponents warned of. I don't believe those fears have really been borne out.

    I don't think that not issuing concealed permits or stringent gun laws would have prevented the incident that happened to you. I imagine that in the Phillipines that the military is a law unto itself.
