Thoughts abt. why Pz.IV/F1/F2 is so vulnerable?

Post by lockie on Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:14 pm

There is a sentence, if one detail, lets say has 10mm armor, got through inside the other - ie tank front glacias, then SF game engine will calculate the first detail, which was hit the FIRST. If it was one detail with a thickness armor 10mm, then the frontal armor with a thickness 60mm will be ignored.
    Let's see default Pz.IV:

On the first pic we may see that "track N1" put his model in the tank hull. The same situation with a track N2 on the lower frontal glacias. Thus, each time when the shell hit the place where the "track No1,2" been located, the game engine will calculate the armor as equal to 10mm instead 60mm.
    It is a terrible bug.

Well, if it ignores the armor behind it, could a quick and dirty fix be to simply make the track segment have 70mm of armor (10mm of the track + 60mm behind it)? Smile

It's not so easy. In fact, tracks didn't provide any additional armor:

As my point, would be better to paint the track in the same color as frontal glacias. Finally, there won't be the difference between tracks and frontal armor. I'll do it with Pz.IV armor in the new Campaign and let's see how it does Wink

Any news on this issue lockie? Personally, I'd prefer if the track remained the same color and the armor thickness was increased on the armor-map for the track section, as it was done widely enough in the field, even if the real effect is debatable (plenty of images like these are available in various archives)
