    Bullet ricochete sound

    Post by weit on Sat Feb 20, 2016 7:24 am

    noticed that gm is lacking one thing.bullet ricochete sound ,when machine gun burst hits your tank or other tank in close distance undoubtely it must be heard. As well as there are no sound of  passing close shell. Is there any way for such features to be inserted into the gm? (in sta 2) I have some of such sound files .can share if needed.

    Bullet ricochete sound

    I think it's possible. But I don't know how it'll effect PC resources.
    So, u need to check out. Let's take MG-34.
    change
    BUL_792T,0x09,%SHELL_AP%,BUL_792,780,40,0.5,0.35,0,1,0,0,0.0128,0,0.65,2.7,4.5,6.3,0.1,0,1,1,1,,,,,,fly1,0,800,1,txt_shell_bul792,apmg_expl_pat,rico_pat_bul,piece_pat,0,1,1,1,1,0xffff4040,2,0.7,41,-1,-1;
    on
    BUL_792T,0x09,%SHELL_AP%,BUL_792,780,40,0.5,0.35,0,1,0,0,0.0128,0,0.65,2.7,4.5,6.3,0.1,0,1,1,1,,expl_techl*,,,,fly1,0,800,1,txt_shell_bul792,apmg_expl_pat,rico_pat_bul,piece_pat,0,1,1,1,1,0xffff4040,2,0.7,41,-1,-1;
    where
    expl_techl* - hit sound in the armor
    fly1 - bullet sound

    U've to change:
    expl_techl*->expl_ricmg34* (that will be unique MG-34 bullet sounds)
    fly1->flymg34 (sound bullet MG-34 missed)
    Theoretically, after changes applied u should see ricochet MG-34 bullet and bullet during fly.

    OK. Let's change all MG sounds. So far:
    // MAUSER98K, MG34, GW43, MG37, MG42, AMG_U_zem
    BUL_792T2
    BUL_792
    BUL_792AIR

    //Browning M1919А4
    BUL_30_06
    BUL_30_06S

    //M2HB
    BUL_50BMG

    //DSHk
    BUL_127BZT

    //Maxim
    BUL_762

    D/l mission "Destroy the Fatherland" and check it out again. It should be properly tested on the other missions also. And I've feeling, that u'll hear all bullet' ricochets sitting inside the tank, which is not realistic at all. Unfortunately, game engine provide sounds hits from the ALL tanks on the battlefield. It does there is no dif. - did bullet hit er tank or the other. U'll hear both and there will be too much sounds.
    Can u make mod for the STA1.0 and presented it for better testing?

    yes i inserted entry for all bullets ,as you told it resulted too much noise and bulet hits ground and armor with same sound .doubt any mod is needed .it was bad idea.

    What abt. to make hit sounds available only for .50cal M2HB and DSHk? It is 12.7mm bullet, which could damage tank badly. For the testing I think mission "River of Doom" will be good.

    I tried the same experiment almost 2 1/2 years ago:
    http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11363.60

    Here's my post of the time (18 October 2013):

    Hey guys, I have exciting news. I was always bothered that the machine gun bullets do not make any hit sound when they hit the ground or metal. So I decided to do something about it. I checked the common res and decided to create new entries into the 7.62 bul entries:

    BUL_762,0x09,%SHELL_AP%,BUL_762,865,40,0.5,0.3,0,1,0,0,0.0096,0,0.6,8,5,5,0.1,0,1,1,1,expl_bulgndl*,expl_bultechl*,expl_bulbuildl*,expl_bulwaterl*,expl_bulhuman*,
    fly1,0,800,1,txt_shell_bul762,apmg_expl_pat,rico_pat_bul,piece_pat,0,1,1,1,1,0xff40ff40,1,0.7,-1,-1,-1;

    I then added the respective new sounds into the expl folder into the low 9sounds) folder creating new entries:

    expl_bulbuildl_0
    expl_bultechl_0
    expl_bulgndl_0
    expl_bulwaterl_0
    expl_bulhumanl_0

    I then created a small test mission with some T34/76 since they have the 7.62 cal MGs. I shot at the ground and at the other tanks and sure enough you could hear the sound of bullets ricocheting off the ground and the metal with different sounds of course. The good news and that it did not cause any ctd. Thus  I am going to extend the experiment to all the other calibres of bullets, 7.92 and .50(I ''l have to find louder sounds for that one), 9 mm etc...And of course I will test to ensure that it works without any crash or problem. I think having these new sound should enhance the immersion and realism!

    Cheers.

    The problem was what Lockie said a bit earlier: it resulted in too many sounds .So I dropped it.

    Hi Frinik, if the sound is not too loud ,like i used ,its okay.I thought about making diferent hit sounds for different targets or making diferent sound for diferent weapons but didnt go so far yet .Think with moderate approach this feature will make the game sound better .

    I agree with Lockie how realistic is it to hear the sounds of bullets when you are inside a tank during battle? If you want to do it make sure the sound is light so as not to be too distracting. What about the ground or buildings?
