    Steel Panzer 2.0 Mod versus STA 1.0

    I spent some time playing stock and user-made missions using my Steel Panzer Mod 2.0 installation this weekend. I was amazed to discover that the same missions with the same armour both models and quantity and likewise for infantry would generate almost 50% fps when using the SP 2.0 Mod compared to STA 1.0. This is very surprising considering that many of the old models were revamped with 3 LODs and normally the newest mod should have generated optimal performance. However this is not the case .Likewise many of the older mods such as the NTA ones (1.3, 1.4, 1.6, 1.7)also seem to put less strain on the pc....

    My question is why is it so???? What's taking such a huge toll on performance in STA? Does anybody have any idea?

    I'm pretty sure this is because of the new HUGE portion of the new stuff implemented in STA mod. As I remember so called SPM2.0 has three years old. And this mod was made only by one person. Nobody from the original line up didn't take a part in his releasing. Funny, but it still has the status beta testing Smile

    It works very well and despite not having as many models as STA it has plenty of well modelled tanks . It runs very smoothly on old as well as new pcs.  Many of the GMPs missions work with it. I find myself playing it as much as STA.

    It's pity Mistwalker just disappeared and left it in beta stage because frankly it's a good mod.

    Does SPM have identical graphic quality? And what fps do you have for Steel Fury? I usually get 25~35 fps. A 50% boost would be nice.

    technopiper, SPM 2.0 looks gorgeous on my laptop( I have an Asus gaming laptop.). The graphics look as nice as the STA ones. no difference at all. Except when I run a heavy mission( one with over 80 armour units on it) I get 36 to 49 fps with SPM whereas the same mission on STA will allow me 22 to 27 fps... There's no competition. What I am going to try is to incorporate some of the GMPs missions into it changing the tanks and apc models because there are , of course, many of the recent additions which are missing in SPM( it was released in Dec 2012). As well some of the recent maps with recently introduced vegetation and new objects will be bare of close to.

    I have introduced some of the later models into SPM 2.0 but it's work intensive so I am not planning to update it to STA's standards.

    Yeah, that would be like reinventing the wheel for say... a dozen people? I am very happy with STA the way it is right now. I only hope there will be new games like Steel Fury in the future.

    Just added the JS-3 ,the Pak43, the Panther Ausf F, the Cromwell into SPM 2.0.They all work well. Also replaced the original skin of the late Tiger with the new one which is way better.
