    Pz.IV gunsight

Post by Txema on Wed Jul 15, 2015 3:33 am

Here you have a drawing of the TZF 5f gunsight (used by the Pz.IV F2, G, H, J tanks)

Here is a representation done for Panzer Elite, although the triangles are too small due to an error in the user configuration. The ranging numbers are fine.

    Pz.IV gunsight

Post by Txema on Wed Jul 15, 2015 4:36 pm

OK, Lockie, please ask will73 about it !!

In any case, the operation of this gunsight can be implemented in the same way as the gunsights of the Pz. V (Panther) and King Tiger that we already have in STA... Don't you think so?

And it would be great to get the source code of SF, I would sign that petition of course !

As it appeared this reticle is not correst.

    It should looks like this:

    Pz.IV/G

    Pz.IV/D

    PS
Here's a very interesting presentation of the Hetzer gunsight reticle

    Hi Lockie !

This gunsight is the TZF 5f.
It was used in the Pz. IV F2, G, H, J.

(The gunsight represented in YouTube is the same as the gunsight of the picture but rotated 180 degrees)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
This gunsight is the TZF 5b.
It was used in the Pz. IV F1 (and the other Pz. IV short-barreled versions, Pz. IV B, C, D, E, F1)

Both gunsights are correct, but each one should be used in the proper Pz. IV version, of course. The gunsight that will73 has implemented is perfect for the Pz. IV H  Very Happy  It would be great if will73 could implement also the TZF 5b for the Pz. IV F1, of course  drunken

I have been thinking about it and I think that the TZF 5f gunsight looks better when rotated 180 degrees like in the YouTube representation (with the PzGr39 and PzGr40 scales in the upper side of the reticle)... Were you referring to this in your previous comment, Lockie?

    Hi, Txema
Unfortunately, will73 can't calibrate the HE scale right now(which u named as TZF 5f). That's why I shared my doubts that gunsight reticle is not original.

    Hi Lockie and will73,

I knew that I had seen this gunsight before in Steel Fury !!

It was implemented by Graviteam for the Steel Fury add-on that unfortunatelly was never released...

I had these pictures saved in my computer, but I had forgotten about them.

Here you have the TZF 5f gunsight for the Pz.IV F2: (and for the G, H, J)

And Here you have the TZF 5b gunsight for the Pz.IV F1: (and for the B, C, D, E)

If you were able to implement these gunsights in Steel Fury, at least in this form, it would be great !!!

    Hi Lockie!

Very nice gunsight for the Pz.IVF2 !

However let me ask about the gunsight for the Pz.IVF1:

Why have you used different letters for the ranging scales? I mean, in the historical gunsight the letters were:

    - MG u Pzgr
    - Sprgr

But in this implementation the letters are:

    - MG
    - 7,5 CM

Why haven't you used the same letters as in the historical gunsights?

Дуже схожий на історичний Tzf5 від T-IIIL- обведено синім кольором
На T-IVF1  стояв Tzf5b- обведено червоним кольором

Txema, I'm abt. to install new patch with gunsights from will73. It is a very hard patch with a many data. I'll give u a link for testing. Suppose, some questions will clear up.

    Here's gunsight from Pz.III N
The main scale is graduated for HE shell. As we can see HEAT shell corresponds to HE and only AP has a bit difference.

    Hi will73,

Thank you very much for your quick answer !

I have checked it and I must say that will73 is right, and I was wrong !!

Here you have a link with detailed information about the TZF 5b gunsight:

    http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/ttt08/coaxial-sighting-telescope.html

will73, I am very sorry for giving you wrong information about the TZF 5b. I found it on internet but it seems that my sources were wrong. And thank you very much for your excellent research !!

    Best regards,

Finally, I've managed to place the new gunsight on the Pz.IVH(yellow camo) and I may say sincerely I don't like it and it looks unrealistic because of the two additional "angles", which indicates the range for HE/AP.

    I'd prefer the old one.

Soon I'll send u patch and u'll see.

    BTW
Why we can't use old one? Do we really need this new gunsight for Pz.IV/F2/H? I think would be better to upload a new gunsight as a mod, thus anybody who like it, will install it manually.

I always prefer the actual item over a made up one.

Making it a mod is fine. People can use it as they see fit.

I prefer the new sight over the old one. The range markers are available when zoomed-in. That's a huge advantage to me.
