    A Quick Question About Weather or Daylight In A MIssion

    Post by woofiedog on Thu Jul 16, 2015 3:50 am

    Been having a strange problem with one of the missions. Could be I am doing something wrong or have a corrupted file, but as the mission starts out during daylight, it continues into night well before it should be the end of the mission? Maybe or could be a few too many bourbons & water also. LoL Laughing

    Thank's for any help with this matter.  Smile

    U came to the right place Smile cheers drunken
    Each mission has its personal weather setup. Let's take "Hot summer II".
    It is file: ...data\k42\loc_rus\levels\levels\cm_pack_mission10\sta_kursk2_pz3n.level

    Code:
       env_arc   = envs\sta_south_01\sta_south_01.polypack;
       env_desc   = sta_south_01.poly;
       loc_data   = scripts\cm_pack_mission10\sta_kursk2_pz3n_loc_data.text;
       scripts   = scripts\cm_pack_mission10\sta_kursk2_pz3n_scripts.engscr;
       start_hours   = 17;
       start_minutes   = 00;
       use_weather_def   = false;
       weater_speed   = 0.05;
       weather   = clear;
       weather_cycle   = 480.0;
       weather_file   = weather\weather_thunder.engcfg;
       weather_pos   = 168;
       zones   = scripts\cm_pack_mission10\sta_kursk2_pz3n_zones.engcfg;

       #include "..\shared_level.engcfg"
    We're interested in the next parameters:
    use_weather_def= false - have no idea what it does
    weater_speed= 0.05 - it is defenetely the weather speed. Developers made mistake. Instead "weather" they wrote "weater". Anyway this misspell word works fine. Usually the weater_speed should not be more than 0.01.
    weather= clear - u may pick up in the editor any available mode, i.e cloudy
    weather_cycle= 480.0 - My guess it is cycle speed, which consist of four periods. I.e. the more cycle value=1200 the longer it takes.
    weather_file= weather\weather_thunder.engcfg - the weathe file with pre-defined setup (wind speed, humidity % etc)
    weather_pos= 168 - It is the weather position

    Lockie... thank's for the reply and answer concerning this problem. Will make the corrections, although when this particular mission turned from day to night, the darkness of the night gave the mission an eerie sense of impending doom to it. What a Face

    Again thank's for these explanations of the mission edit parameters. Excellent cheers

    Which parameter controls the wind speed? I'd like to increase it to see if I can have the smoke, dust, etc. go much more horizontal.

    It depends what the weather file in use for the mission. Usually it is:
    ...\data\k42\loc_rus\levels\LEVELS\weather\weather_user.engcfg
    Let's have a look:

    //weather description
    weather()
    {
    //name, cycle time, start position, cycle on/off,
    //speed the weather changing, rain sound, keys

    clear, 480.00, 22.00, true, 0.00, rain0, day, clo, day_eve, eve, nig, mor, day;
    night, 2200.00, 0.00, false, 0.00, rain0, eve, nig;
    rain2day, 1400.00, 0.00, false, 0.00, rain0, clo, clo, day;
    rain2eve, 1200.00, 0.00, false, 0.00, rain0, clo, eve, eve;
    } // end of weather

    //weather kyes

    {

    _vars() {}

    If u want to change the wind (make it more stronger), then u've to chage the wind parameters in each weather key. Let's take the key day.
    day, 0xf7f7f2, 0x3a3a3a, 0x2a2a2a, 0xf7f7f2, 0xce111111, 50.00, -24.00, 0.37, 0.30, SKY_DAY_CLE0, false, 0.00, amb_day0, 20.00, 12.00, 7.00, 120.00, 0.10, 0xb8cadc, 0xc3d8ef, 0x7d8c9e, 0xacc2c4, 9.60, 0.44;
    So, we've wind speed 12 m/s, wind curl 7 seconds.
    The same procedure u've to do with other weather keys. U may setup the other values or change the wind angle or whatever.

    Thanks for the tutoring! What is wind curl?

    Also, can the smoke be in a line instead of puffy?

    I think "curl" was wrong translation. It should be "gust of wind" - a short period when the wind becomes stronger/weaker.

    Also, can the smoke be in a line instead of puffy?
    Yes it's possible. U've to play with a smoke parameters:
    http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com/t813-firethrower-tank

    STA3.x
    smoke_fl,1,18,2.4,12,1,0.45,0,6.0,0.20,1.0,0,smk_sphere0,0x00000002,sh_ablendd,0xff4D4D45,0x004D4D45,1,5;
    change on
    smoke_fl,1,48,0.7,8.0,1,0.50,0,1.5,0.05,1,0,smk_sphere0,0x00000002,sh_ablendd,0xff4D4D45,0x004D4D45,1,5;
    But it will highly decrease the game FPS. I think twice. If so change 48 on 30.

    Lockie,ёсць пытанне-калі змяняеш стандартны ключ надвор'я нязначна-ну дапусцім час змены надвор'я-ці абавязкова стварэнне адпаведнага файлу ў "weater".

    Калі змяняеш хуткасць надвор'я, то там ёсьць дзьве ключа:
    clear, 480.00, 0.00, true, 0.00, rain0, day, clo, day_eve, eve, nig, mor, day;
    1. 480.00 - кількість циклів (чим більш тим швидше)
    2. 0.00 - швидкість зміни погоди
    Я цыкламі практычна не карыстаюся. Ведаю, што для "480" хуткасць павінна быць 0.015. Гэта значыць, що проста прапісваю гэтую велічыню ў файл:
    data\k42\loc_rus\levels\LEVELS\weather\weather_user.engcfg
    clear, 480.00, 0.00, true, 0.015, rain0, day, clo, day_eve, eve, nig, mor, day;
    Ствары сабе адну надвор'е, напрыклад deviator_weather.engcfg і туды заносы ўсе змены/ключы. Так будзе значна прасцей чым ствараць для кожнай місіі сваю надвор'е.
