    German verbose loader??

Post by spookytooth on Tue Jun 30, 2015 1:38 pm

    Hi

Not knocking/criticising the sim and definitely not the Mods here, but I just wondered how authentic the German Loader's speech is? It all seems, well, a bit formal and drillbook perfect. Surely, especially in combat, whilst yelling out the round being loaded to the Gunner or Commander he would have shortened things a bit, especially with a crew that had served with each other for a while? It just sounds a bit ..... robotic? ....... or is it me?

I agree the speech is too formal and in combat situation I am sure it would be shortened to Neununddreizig or Hohlladung ( depending on the commander's request )Geladen!

Some standard Panzer crew comms are quoted on p.334, here:

Yes I've seen that book - I'll have to look for a copy. I've also read that communications within the crew were by tapping because of the noise. Not sure if it was by hand or boot but I expect it was just as effective!

My German crew are a bit wimpy. If a rifle bullet so much as pings off the hull of a King Tiger one of them will start crying out " We are hit !!! "
If god forbid, one of them is wounded I have to listen to him snivelling " Where is the doctor ? " and " I need a medic " for the rest of the mission. What happened to being as tough as Krupp steel ? Very Happy
The Russian crew are probably just as bad of course, but I don't speak any Russian, so I don't know... Very Happy

Lol! All I seem to see is the caption "pep talk" - I guess what you're describing Barcelona is exactly what my crew are saying. I'm in blissful ignorance of course! Wink
