    Icon rpm/accel

    Post by lockie on Tue May 19, 2015 12:13 pm

    It is always a secret for me what does "moving small boxes" at the driver's place? I think upper row is responsible for the "RPM" (rotate per minute). The down one is "engine acceleration". To say the truth it doesn't make a big diff., but it's easy to understand what the process have place in the left-down corner.
    Here's what I want to implement. I've already asked will73 is it possible or not.

    BTW
    According to my exp., if u always press "accel" (arrow up), then engine overheat and become out of order.

    Розшифрування шкал водія

    верхня шкала- оберти двигуна від 0  до 100%
    Приклад танк M4"Fireflay"
    0% це //обороти/мін
           min_w = 500.0;
    100% це   max_w = 2700.0;

    Нижня шкала величина натиснення педалі (переставляння ручки- сектору  газу B-N) газу  від 0% (ненажато (переставлено))- до 100%(повністю нажато (переставлено))

    Here's what I want to implement. I've already asked will73 is it possible or not.

    Perhaps the accel refers to the speed or the acceleration of the vehicle itself?

    Yep, throttle would be a better word.

    "Throttle" are u sure it is understand? Throttle it's some kind part of the carburetor.
    As my point "acceleration" is much acceptable for both english and non-englesh users.

    In a car you press on the accelerator pedal or you open the throttle to go faster. Two different ways of saying the same thing.
    In the game I'm not sure what those boxes even mean. In a tank or a car you don't have an accelerometer. You only have a tachometer and a speedometer. Maybe it should be called "throttle position".

    I see "throttle" is more preferable word, but I still think "acceleration" is more understandable. So, we'll make "accel", if there will be complains what the hell it does, then it'll be replaced on "throt". If I see again: what the hell? Then both icons will be removed Wink

    No matter what you call it, nobody knows what the hell it does anyway. Laughing

    Here's what the manual calls them; "gas and gear"

    OK, then let it be: RPM and GAS

    It's possible to paint "small boxes" with green or yellow color.

    Yeah, u're right. But I'm playing this game more then 7 years and these "white boxes" really got me Smile

    BTW
    In common case, this digital indicator, which consist of the "white boxes" doesn't suit to the WW2 sim either Wink
    GAS/RPM indicator has appropriate implementation in "T-34vsTiger". Anyway, if I see at least a couple additional complains, then I'll leave only one "red sector". Let's see.

    Yeap, it has been accustomed for me to playing with FPS 8-14. It is a very very rare case, when I play with ~20FPS. It's some kind of miracle Very Happy
