There's a Soviet night attack mission in a T-34-85 with troops and IS-2s and it has lots of parachute illumination rounds falling, I like it a lot, but without the illum I don't care for night missions, really.

I think the town would look a lot better with just a small, less regularly-shaped concrete area, instead of a very big, rectangular one - maybe just a small central plaza, with buildings less scattered. The outer area with gardens looks much better. I don't have a great PC so too dense scenery or too many troops can be an FPS problem for me, too.

Many villages in NW Eupope has churches with towers or steeples, which for SF will improve realism and a be good landmark for any missions set in that theatre (though in real life they were often knocjed down by direct gunfire as they were often used by artilelry spotters).

    Hi, 33lima
I've read er After Action Report and it is excellent! I don't know how, but I believe that u had action in the real battle.
U did exactly what I wanted user to do! It's incredible!
I've lost in the first mission only one tank. In the second I had the same result as u - two tank survived and almost all infantry lost.
Pay attention - it was balance "5" Smile
I see, I need to fix some parts of the polygon:
    - road
    - forest

    PS
I'd be pleased, if u place this report on our forum!
    Thanks in advance.

    PPS
There are some screens. Well, I've to say I've managed to implement one trick and now AI is not such an idiot under town conditions Smile (it cost me the hell a lot of work in polygon creation, but it was done!).
Now AI looks quite good! And I may promise u'll get the new experience and have a great fun to play this mission! cheers rabbit alien

I've separated the whole area of the town on small parts:
    - forbidden zones
    - no penalties zones
So, now AI knows exactly where to.

We need this object: street lamp+rounded bench. It is located in the center of square.

First try. The lamp should be multiplied 3x times Smile

Mission is absolutely amazing! I never played smth. like that! Graviteam made a HUGE potential to their game and even now(after 8 years after release) we still may find smth. new! And we found it!
There is only one issue - we badly need smth. like that(path edge?) to separate pedestrian area from vehicle.

Then our polygon will look like kinda a town area.

    PS
Unfortunately for all of us ordinary players, Graviteam prefer tactics part of the game Sad

    PPS
    Some screens.
I've to say that a way into town will be much harder than in the movie! BUT Wardaddy rules! And I like it!

Polygon in common sense is ready. Mission is in the middle of  adjusting now.

    Briefing:

After the battle, when infantry from Captain Baker' Company was saved, a tank platoon under the command of Sergeant Don Collier with Sergeant Miles' desant, went to the city Diuluard to capture it.
Після бою, коли було врятовано піхоту з роти капітана Бейкера, танковий взвод під командуванням сержанта Дона Колієра разом з десантом сержанта Майлза, вирушили до міста Діулуард щоб захопити його.

    Combat order/Бойова задача:

    Your Task/Ваша задача:

    PS
I've managed to complete mission ONLY at balance N2 Very Happy
It is almost impossible to control er wingmen and I think, I've applied too much randomness of the enemy spotting, that I don't know where the enemy will be the next time ???

Yeah, he couldn't shoot/run away and stayed on the same place. Unfortunately, there is a bug with this MG or with a polygon itself. Don't have idea. Sometimes, when shell hit MG the game CTD. Let's say 2 times from 10. Still can't figure out what caused that.

Meanwhile, let's make the mission N4 - "Best job I ever had!"
There should be a couple tricks:
    - Sherman' AI don't see Tiger
    - Tiger is more tougher and his AI is smarter. The "smartness" could be achieved with a "smart" script Wink Cool

There are some new screenies. The mission itself is a very easy. In fact, stupid AI can't resist against 4xShermans under human control. U've to sacrifice one tank then mission completed successfully. Just to bring a bit of challenge, I'll add another Tiger at the balance "9".
And as it appeared the polygon is a very heavy overloaded with a new objects/bushes, thus there will be always (30-40)% chance the game CTD.

    Start

Did u spot the Tiger? Wink

Crossroad. (It is only a draft variant. It should be re-designed.)

This is a very nice map Lockie.Once Fury is launched this map could be recycled and with some modifications add a river, some hills it could be used to make a mission about a battle in Normandy ( Falaise for example) or even Aarnhem in the Netherlands. There are few such nice maps like Halbe, Sta_Mysharivka, Lipoviti which could be slightly modified to be used for Western European type missions many crave .With the Winter mod enabled some could even be used for an Ardennes Offensive /Battle of the Bulge scenario. These maps shouldn't go top waste to be used for only one missions and then forgotten.

Yes, we can use this polygon for many missions, like:
    - Barkmann's corner
    https://wargamerabbit.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/barkmanns-corner-aar-2/
    - Cologne Panther
    http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com/t278-cologne-panther

Meanwhile, mission N4 is ready and will be included soon into FebUpd STA2.0.
We've the last mission "Crossroad". There will be the next new objects:
    - water-tower (almost ready)

    - homestead(hospital) WIP

    - tractor WIP

And landscape should look similar to these pictures:

    PS
I've found a very good 3d model of church! But it needs the hell a lot of work to implement into the game.

Villers Bocage had a water tower, on the north side of the N175, not far outside the town to the east, close to the well-known burned 6 Pounder AT gun on the opposite side of the road, at the rear of the British column attacked by Wittmann:

PS the church looks good, but the tower/spire is too 'Russian Orthodox' for NW Europe.

It's possible to implement it, but u need to show me exactly where it is located on the map.

    the church looks good
It is exactly for the East front.

First LOD of "Homestead" is ready! Thanks to MaxFH for his help in texturing!

There are some screenies from the mission No4 "The best job I ever had".
Mission is available to d/l here:
    http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com/t610p30-sta2-0-testing#7506

The main problem of this mission is: how to force friendly AI (wingmen) to follow u and execute the commands exactly.
I may say I got a very VARIOUS situations:
    - Sherman turned over
    - Sherman stuck
    - Sherman got a hit (many times)
But I've to say that there is no a common case of the battle. Each time u'll get a new situation. Well, let's say not exactly the "new", but a "differ" situation would be indeed the word!
I played this mission many times and only one time (from 20-30 times) got the victory Smile
Of course, don't even think to play at the balance "9"  cherry

Mission N5 is still in progress. Junkyard is almost ready.

We've: "Homstead-hospital", tractor, water-tower, cyclone, boiler, junk tires, barrels, dry log and we need once more junks, like this box:

I think "Sherman" must be damaged (no right track), thus user can't move. Also there should be limit of the shells. For example:
    - 9x HE
    - 3x Smoke
    - 8x AP
    - M19A4 bullets 1000 (default 6000)

    German side:
    - 8x trucks with infantry
    - 4x APC (depends on balance)
    - 1x squad "panzershreck"

Sounds like a solid concept - however, the tractor might need to be downsized for about 50%, it looks like some kind of monster truck next to the GIs Smile

OK, I've decreased the total size on 20% and now the height is ~2 meters
It is similar to tractor Ford 9N.

We've a new "junk object" for the editor: vehicle junk frame+engine. I think it's enough to make the final mission No5!

There are new screenies from ME.
This is the place where the mission start.

    Right track damaged!

View on the "Farmstead"/Hospital. As we can see there is a new object "junk-frame".

Common view of the Crossroads. It is getting evening. Mission will be finished in the night. I'm planning to add light rockets to give user a chance to see smth. in the dark.

There is enemy before attack. The main threat is Sdkfz 251/9 armed with 75mm gun and of course panzerschreck.

I'd like to say u, Gentlemen, that in fact Campaign "Fury"  it is a pure demonstration of the SF engine power! And let's take a count that engine has 7 years old!
What about to see what does engine with a 6 years old? Wink
I'm sure all of us will be surprised! Let's take a note abt. it! Cool
So far, I'd like to present the whole Campaign "Fury". It is a small Campaign, but it is a very interesting and unusual one!
Well, it is a FIRST Campaign, where US Forces were presented as an integrated part of the game! It is the whole story and with a main PERSONAL HERO - "SHERMAN" M4A3/76 "Easy Eight"!
    I hope u like it!
Special thanks to Comrade Frinik for his proofreading and to will73 for his titanic works with a new tanks!
And to all who was involved into this project!
    Thank u guys!

Well done - eerie soft music, then you see the contrails.  Note the approaching smaller streams - hope it's the "little friends" fighter escort and not FW-190s.

Finished Mission 3 last night - only two tanks survived, one disabled and one destroyed outright; however, I was doing well up until then and had only lost one tank in the first 2 missions.

I've had quite a few problems with the 006 shader error, running an Nvidia GTX970, but I seem to have the game running quite smoothly now. In the end I had to disable my second monitor and use compressed textures in game. I still get an occassional crash when switching cameras or tank positions but it sounds like from reading this thread that the game engine really is being pushed in these missions.

My favourite mission to date was the first Fury mission. I really wasn't expecting the level of detail in the camp and its surrounds and found my first drive through the forest claustrophobic and quite stressfull because as soon as the shooting started I buttoned-up and only had the tiny field of view that's available through the sights. It took me some time to work out what was going on around me and who my team mates were shooting at. Had to play it again with 3rd person switched on so I could see where all the enemy units were coming from.

Other than that I've found the M4/M36 missions (from mission packs 1 and 3) a real blast. Despite the limitations of the game engine, the level of immersion as the infantry dashes forward and you provide support amongst the hedgerows is really great and it is one of the few times a game has provided me with a sense of really being there. Can't wait for more.

As it appeared, two units trophy hetzer, sdkfz251 were missed in the camp. Fix will be included in the AprUpd for STA2.1. Also the building "Farmstead/Hospital" will become destroyable.

Yep, I applied the 4GB patch on both the starter.exe in the steel fury root folder and shell.exe in bin/rel folder. I'll try applying it again and see if the game is any more stable.  One thing I have noticed is if I remove the Sound mod, SSM2.3, the shader crashes disappear I can run both monitors and use uncompressed textures in the game options; however, as expected, I lose half the in-game sounds e.g. engine and MG sounds etc. So in my case the sound mod may be eating a lot of memory for some reason.

Unfortunately, haven't got that far into the campaign yet due to shader error crashes.

That's interesting bug. Suppose, smth. wrong with a sound format.
OK, let's try the first step:
    - delete the next files and try again the mission
