    Mission: Problem child (Pz.35(t))

Post by lockie on Wed Nov 05, 2014 2:08 am

This mission will be devoted to the tank Pz.35(t).

This is short video from "Deutschen Panzer Light Pz.I II"
    4shared.com/video/A475MLImce/02_pz35t.html
    https://vimeo.com/111216268
It is a very discussed tank. It wasn't brand new one and I may say it was a really old tank. BUT German tank forces used this one in a very effective manner. The main idea was that tanks would never fight against each other! According to this doctrine tank Pz.35(t) was a real war machine against infantry, which this tank was supposed to be designed for.
So, Gentlemen I`d like u to present a new mission, which will take place at evening 8th July(3:30 o`clock), when Soviet troops captured Polish village Mazowiecka (well, not captured I meant liberated).
So, German forces decided to get the Soviet liberators out from the village and organized a tank counter-attack with a current forces: 6xPz.35(t) plus infantry platoon. There will be under user`s control  3xPz.35(t)+infantry platoon.
I think this mission will be interesting, coz user will take a fight against:
    - infantry platoon
    - 3xT-26
    - 2xmortars 82mm
    - 1x45mm AA gun
    - 2xMG "Maxim"
    - at the balance "10" there will be 1xKV-2 available against user
    - and have a look on the new polygon
I mean there will be a duel Pz.35(t) vs T-26.
Moreover, mission will take place at the night, which is the really one new shot for me! Well, I've to confess, I don't like night missions, but this one suppose will be good Wink

And of course, we badly need scenario/briefing text from our famous Alexandre Dumas aka Frinik! Hope he will help us as the same way as helped us with proofreading our grammar teacher Mr. Tanker Wink
(Sorry, for my bad English Smile)
Meanwhile, I started the mission and there are some screenshots:

AND - the hell yeah! We need battle briefing from the HQ General Sir 33lima! Hope he will find time to proper the briefing Wink

    PS
I`ve played mission with mod "Hardcore target ". No wonder I couldn't finish mission successful Smile

Mission has been included into GMP1.x

I love early war tanks like Pz.Kpfw. 35(t) or Renault R-35. My dream is to see Polish Campaign 1939 or Blitzkrieg 1940 in STA one day.
Polish 7TP light tank was based on Vickers E carriage just like T26 which model is already done so maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to do a model of 7TP.

Aye, a Polish campaign would really be interesting, especially when considering the Polish AT rifles which could hole all the Germans tanks of that period.

Maybe someone ought to put a bee in Kyth's bonnet once/if the required assets are made Very Happy

Comrade Googol always offers hope! I will start working on the mission text once I go home this weekend.I am on a busines trip to India this week. I suggest starting the scaenario in mid July 1941 for more realism, one week after Soviet offensive started.

Sounds good! Who will be the main hero: Untersturmführer SS Max Bolzen or Erich Schulze from 6th panzer division?

I always go for the Wehrmacht or the Panzerwaffe. I am not a great fan of the Waffen SS. Just thought they were overrated. Thus Erich Schulze is fine plus my first name is Eric so easy choice. Give me 2 or 3days.I'll even go the 33 Lima way and prepare a decent battle scenario

I'd like to use Waffen SS, coz will73 already prepared a new uniform, so we can see it in the mission(well, not so detailed because of the night). May be it'll be some kind of the reconnaissance task?
Who will be the chief for Erich Schulze?
What du u think abt Hauptsturmführer Herbert Otto Gille?

    PS
I'm reading book "Panzer Division SS Wiking" by Teodor Hoffman.
And here's one epizode (wiki), which is ideal for the Panther's mission.
After a brief period of rest and refit, the 5 SS "Wiking" was sent to assist in the defence of Kovel, which was under threat from a strong Soviet force. Gille led his men towards the town and began setting up a defensive perimeter, which was soon encircled by the Red Army. The 2nd Battalion, SS Panzer Regiment 5 "Wiking", equipped with newly arrived Panther tanks, along with the 3rd Battalion, SS Panzergrenadier Regiment "Germania", well equipped and up to strength, arrived at the front from Germany and began to form a relief formation.
The unit was under the command of Obersturmführer Karl Nicolussi Leck, commander of the 8th Company, 2nd Battalion, SS Panzer Regiment 5 "Wiking". Nicolussi Leck immediately launched an attack with five tanks. Soon after beginning the assault, he received a radio message from the besieged commander to halt his attack and withdraw. Leck ordered his radio operator to ignore the call, and continue with the attack. Risking court-martial, Nicolussi-Leck proceeded to fight his way through the Red Army encirclement, destroying several tanks in the process. His Panther was the first vehicle to break the encirclement; for his actions he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
After the relief force had established a corridor to the trapped forces, the withdrawal began. Unlike the previous encirclement at Korsun, the "Wiking" managed to escape with most of its equipment intact.

That same Nicolussi Leck will 15 months later fight what probably was the last action involving the Jagdpanther  on the western front in April 1945.

As more I play this mission as more i like it!
This is wonderful and this is my first shot in the dark!
Mission as my point is quite balanced. We've 6xPz.35(t) vs 3xT-26 (plus some other). U need to hide er tank and make orders to er units. it's a very interesting. And moreover u've to be a very warned or mission will be finished soon Smile
Oh, don't forget to plugin mod "hardcore target" Wink
This is on the balance "5".

These T-26 were a really tough nuts!

There were the remnants of the 1. Gebirgs-Division (Edelweiß) after sever strike of the Soviet troops on the South direction. A month later Division was renamed on 1. Volks-Gebirgs-Divison  Idea

I've managed to hit all three T-26, but it wasn't enough to get out Russian liberators from Mazowieka Evil or Very Mad
    I've played "balance 4", "experience 4-2".
In short: 4-4-2 (as a classic football formation with two forwards Smile)

That was a real mess! My tank stuck in the trench.
